Broken Wings

Sunlight and the sounds of birds chirping ushered in her day. A beautiful Saturday morning. As Bugo turned to kiss him good morning, she realised he wasn't there. His side of the bed was still made up. It was obvious he didn't come home last night. "God, when will all these stop?," she muttered. Her husband Eric had put her through many nights of tears and fear, wondering what time he'lld come home. Especially on Fridays. She understood it was the last working day of the week and probably needed to unwind, but why he couldn't do this with her was beyond her imagination. Heaviness that she had uneasily become accustomed to, came upon her.
As she thought of all these, she got up to brush her teeth and have her bath. As she stared into the mirror to make up, she didn't like what she saw, she had become a shadow of herself.
"A whole me," she sighed.
She dressed up and went to the kitchen to make a cup of coffee. As she sat down to wait for the water to boil, she thought back to the day she first met him.
"Hey Bugo! Be careful, that car almost hit you!," her friend Sandra shouted.
They had just stopped at a restaurant to eat, with just 30 minutes of their one hour break to hurry back to their respective offices.
"Imagine o, now the driver has splashed water over me,' she said angrily.
She saw that the man parked about 4 cars ahead of them, so she matched there to give him a piece of her mind. On getting there, as she opened her mouth to speak, she found herself staring into the most handsome face she had ever seen. Brown eyes, white teeth, beautiful skin, the full works. He was just beautiful. She managed to get herself together and managed a weak "Don't you know you could have hit me?"
"Yes i do and i'm sorry," he responded, "but i don't regret it," he said, flashing that dimpled smile that she came to love. By this time, her anger came back full force. "You don't what?" she shouted. "Easy, easy. I only meant that if that hadn't happened, i won't have met my future wife," he said with a smile on his face.
Just then Sandra started laughing, enjoying the scene in front of her.
"My name is Sandra and her name is Bugo, we've been best friends since secondary school. What's your name?," "Eric," he said, looking at Bugo who was still seething in anger.
"Nice to meet you Eric," she smiled. "Now, continue what you were saying about Bugo being your future wife."
He smiled and said "Why don't we all just go in for drinks, so i can apologise to Bugo," he said with his eyes on her.
"No!" Bugo said, "Why don't you apologise and be on your way, you've been quite rude."
"Okay, i accept and i feel bad, let me make it up to you," he said looking at Sandra for back up.
"Yes, Bugo, let him make it up to us," she said with a seriousness she didn't mean. By now, all 2 pairs of eyes were staring at her, waiting for her to agree. Now exasperated, she said okay.
This marked the beginning of another phase, Life as she knew it was officially over. Update! The Part 2 to this story is on my other blog myfearlesslove.wordpress.com Please come over to read it. Sorry for the delay. :)

Bye Bye Sumy

Hey!
I had a lovely day. Hope you did too :) Today, I was meant to go back to Kharkov, but for a series of events.
1. There was no space on the bus for 5 people. This could have been prevented if we had booked early.
Enter
Kolade and Ik. Both medical doctors. I'm sure they connived with the bus company to make sure there wasn't space. They didn't want us to leave anyway.
So back to my point, if they had booked early, we'lld be in Kharkov now. It's all their fault.
2. Mimi and i had to run (okay we actually took a cab) to vokzal to get train tickets. On getting there, they said the next train was for 4am. For how much? 120 uah! Too expensive! Why should it be 120 Uah and the next bus by 7am is 18uah? Seriously guys, which one will you go for? A whole 102 Uah difference. Na wa o! You can guess which one we bought. The thing is we have church camp to attend and the bus takes off by 11am, the exact time we get into Kharkov. Okay now, let's see how that goes.
To end this post, there's nothing this Euro 2012 won't cause o! Prices have been skyrocketing anyhow. Like 200% more than usual. Hian! Let the games do and finish, so everything will be back to normal. So, let me go and catch a few winks before the journey back.

Today Today!

Whew! I'm bone tired. I left the city where i stay, Kharkov to another one yesterday. Just for a few days though. I desperately need this break. The trip to Sumy was 3 hours on the dot. I had a very uncomfortable bus ride. This heat can kill, so you can imagine how hot it was. You would think that the bus would have an Air conditioner.
I've spent a day here already and i'm loving every minute. I desperately needed this break. There's so much going on with me right now and i just need to clear my head. I got up by 10am and just delighted in the fact that i didn't have anything to do. As today was Dee's birthday, we had to do some food shopping, so we packed ourselves to the city centre.
First stop was the ATM machine, the money refused to reflect in the account, so we had to wait for it to. After which we went to Sumy's joy and pride, the new shopping mall that just opened. Can't even remember the name. After grocery shopping, i called K to call a cab for us. While waiting for the cab, the others used the opportunity to take pictures. Minus me, as i'm not much of a picture person. After that, we went inside to wait so that the sun wouldn't bless us with compulsory tans. Unknown to us, the network inside was bad, so K couldn't get through to us to tell us the cab was waiting. After waiting for like 30 minutes and the cab didn't show, the 2nd Dee had to go out to call Kolade.
Fast-forward 15 minutes later, we were home and the cab driver charged us 27 Gryvnias for wasting time, 10 more than we were meant to pay. I just smiled and paid without arguing. Had it been we were in Kharkov, reverse would have been the case. Taxis in this city are so cheap. The cheapest cab you will get in Kharkov is like 25 gryvens and trust me the distance is short, while here that same 25 will be regarded as expensive.
All in all, it was a good day. I'm knackered now and it's way past my bedtime. Goodnight!

Alles Gute zum Geburtstag

Okay, this is an unusual post. Really, really unusual. She will be shocked when she sees this. I'm only doing this for posterity's sake. Not because i want to or anything. Shrugs!
Anyway, here it goes. Happy birthday to Miss Dee. 4 and a half years and counting, shet!... 4 years? ...lol... Wonder how i survived. I'm indeed a supergirl :) I digress, but seriously 4 years? Interesting! 4 years of craziness, fun, scandals, escapades yawas and the unmentionables. God has been faithful.

Waiting for Mr. Right

I saw a picture on facebook some time ago, and since i couldn't get the exact one, the above picture is the closest i could get. Similar wordings. I read the comments beneath and most of what i saw shocked me to the core. I doubt it would shock you. People were of the opinion that if you're still single and waiting for Mr. Right, you'll grow old doing that, as the picture insinuates.
I do not believe in making unrealistic expectations of what a prospective husband should look or be like, but i believe that there is someone out there for each person. You could say everyone has a Mr./Miss Right. I think the problem is how this concept has been defined over the years. I would say that i've found my Mr. Right when i meet someone who is capable of loving and accepting me for who and what i am, a man who believes in me and is strong enough to recognise his and my flaws, a man who forgives his and my past and is strong enough to forge a future of marital bliss with challenges that will be overcome.
So you see, waiting for the right person isn't so bad afterall, it's not unrealistic. I think because we are scared of being left on the shelf, we settle for every Tom, Dick and Harry that comes our way. Please, please let's wait. Let's prepare ourselves.
To the ladies
Lets prepare ourselves inside and outside. Let's make sure we are ready physically, spiritually and socially. Be ready Spirit, soul and body. Become God's best while you wait. You'll never have this much alone time again.
“A woman's heart should be so hidden in God that a man has to seek Him just to find her.” ― Maya Angelou
To the gentlemen
You'll never be on thaT 10/10 scale you want to be on before marriage, so quit trying. Just get the basics and trust God to handle the rest. Every woman wants a strong man of God, who is self dependent and confident in himself. And please, when you find us, don't delay so much in asking :)
I know this is a very wide topic, all i really want to communicate here is that Mr. Right isn't the perfect person he's made out to be, rather the things he'll be for you. So let's change our mindset, you won't grow old waiting for your God ordained. Though he may tarry, he will surely come!
Next time, i'll tell you about what i'm facing right now.
Clue: Mummy, Aunties, Concerned Mummy's friends... I'm sure you guessed right! :)

Writer's block

I officially welcome myself back to the world of blogging. Do i hear bells ringing? Yay me! I have suffered and i'm still suffering a bad case of writer's block. I simply do not know how to write anymore. As a wise man once said, 'writing improves with writing', so that's what i'll do. Write, write and write till i drop.
My absence is not for lack of anything to say, like i said i don't know how to write again. Lest i become guilty of needless repetitions, let me just say i'm glad to be back. And you're in for a ride. Woot, woot!!!
Little advice for you,
