Broken Wings 2

Did he wow her? Yes he did. They went on lunch dates and dinner, went to see movies, went to the beach, spoke all night, the whole shebang! When he was with her, he put on ‘The full Eric charm’ as he called it. She loved him, ah she did. All other toasters just disappeared into the background, he completed her. It felt like he saw right through her. They talked about every and anything. She was happy. She even neglected that old wives tale that states that your boyfriend/husband should be more in love with you. At this point, she didn’t know who loved who more. She was that happy.
They had been seeing each other for 6 months when he asked to meet her parents. And boy was she excited! She had been trying to get him to do just that without being pushy and fate finally pushed it into her laps. They were at his house that day, she had just finished cooking and was tidying up the kitchen. She just smiled and kept on doing the dishes.
‘I really want to meet them Bugo. I’m really serious about you’.
With that, he turned her around.
‘I love you babe, I really do. Something about you calls to me on a deeper level. What more can I pray to get from God in a wife? You have it all. You’re beautiful, intelligent, you cook a mean Egusi soup’.
By now, her face was so red, it could have lit up a match stick. He went down on his knees and brought out a ring from his pocket.
‘Marry me Bugo, marry me. I’ll never make you cry, if you cry at all, they’ll be tears of joy. Be the mother of my 5 girls…’
At this she burst out laughing. She said yes, she couldn’t wait to spend the rest of her life with him.
They went to see her parents the next day. Still basking in the glow of just being proposed to, she was all smiles, grinning from ear to ear. He sat in the living room while she went to call her parents. Excitedly, they hurried on to the living room to finally meet with the man who had stolen their daughter’s heart.
Her mother came out first, she was so excited to finally meet her daughter’s fiancĂ©. She just kept going on and on about all of Bugo’s antics as a child. It was a different ball game when her father came out. The young man his daughter brought home wiped the smile of his face.
‘Eric Mustapha!’ He stuttered. This was just before he fainted.
